Anyone who's known me for a while knows that my dream is to be a professional comics artist and while doing webcomics (and the fans and friends I've made from it) makes me feel like I'm making it happen, it's just not quite the same as being able to hold a comic I helped make in my own hands. Once I can do that, I'll know I'm really on my way. Now, after 10 (long, but short at the same time) years of trying, that's actually about to happen! I know that comes of a little self-congratulatory, but I guess I'm just excited.
As some of you may have noticed, my webcomics and my deviantArt gallery have not been updating very often and you may have been (but probably weren't) wondering where I've been. Roughly around this time last year, I was contacted by writer Matt Anderson, who had seen my comics online and wanted to collaborate. He pitched me a few story ideas and I sent him back some sample art and after a while his publisher at Ape Entertainment decided I'd be a good fit on Matt's book "White Picket Fences". For the past bunch of months I've been working with Matt on a handful of issues of that very title. Between this and my quote-unquote "day job" I haven't had a lot of time for much else. So if my lack of updates online are the bad news, then the good news is that the issues I've been working on will be available very soon!
The previous "White Picket Fences" releases received great reviews a few years ago and the series is going to be relaunched in a matter of weeks. Issue 1 of the WPF relaunch will be coming out next month (September) from Ape, beginning a four issue story arc. While my work won't be appearing in issues 1 or 2, I do have a four-page back-up story in both issues 3 and 4. If you want the whole story (and to support the title I'm working on) you'll want to go to your comic shop and tell them to order you "White Picket Fences" #'s 1 and 2 (which, I believe can be found in Previews).
After that story arc wraps up, issue 5 will feature me in my first full published-to-paper 20 page story! Then I've got two other full issues within the next three, though I'm not sure what order they come out so you should just buy all of 'em!
Thanks to all of you for your support, and I'll see you in comic stores soon!
